Collins have been supplying the commercial catering trade since 1989 and still a family business owned by Mr David Collins and his wife, a fellow Director.
In March 2020 the COVID-19 epidemic wiped over 70% of the business away overnight with mass closure of the leisure industry, which gave us a huge dilemma. Do we shut our doors resulting in our Care Industry and hospitals losing their supply line, or seek other ways to stay in business?
With a nation in isolation, and having 52 refrigerated vehicles with a team of drivers, we pooled our resources and set up a retail delivery offer. The first few weeks were a real challenge getting new systems in place, a website and merchant banking (this took us 4 weeks, having to use Victor de Banke to take payments until finally on the 29th April it finally came through). We thank each and every one of our amazing customers for giving us this chance to survive and also to help you.
The response has been over whelming, emails and letters of thanks giving cheers to everyone here. Although hard work, it has been a pleasure to serve you. Thank you.
We need to keep our customers and staff safe, so social distancing is a priority. All produce is packed wearing gloves and masks where necessary, and as an extra precaution we have a selection of pre-prepared boxes which allow the additional time to bespoke pick your order and refrigerate for 12 hours before being delivered in refrigerated lorries. This standing time gives you the sound knowledge that the goods you receive are safe for you to handle as soon as they arrive. Your order will be dropped at your door or put in your safe place. Please ensure the chosen area is dry as boxes will deteriorate should they become damp.
Fully compliant with European standards, awarded the EFSIS Record of Inspection 2020 and Alcumus Safe Contractor. Accreditations are important to us, and having regular inspections makes sure every area of our business is clean, inspected and safe for our valued customers and staff.
We deliver within a 40 mile radius of Northampton, including Bedfordshire, Oxfordshire, Leicestershire, Cambridgeshire and Nottinghamshire.
We are unable to deliver outside of this area without prior notification.
Dealing with Fresh produce, FRESH is the word and we have deliveries daily but we do not keep excessive stock for obvious reasons. However items are therefore supplied subject to availability and may become unavailable at any time. If Collins Fresh is unable to supply the item we will substitute with an alternative equal to the price of the original item, or give immediate credit.
Order before 3pm for next morning delivery. If an item is coming in to stock that day we will wait and deliver, latest the following day.
Sunday is not counted as a delivery day, but we do deliver Saturday mornings. Bank Holidays please check as we are often working.
Whilst Collins Fresh strives to offer the highest quality produce, we understand issues may occur. Collins Fresh will always accept return of and exchange for bad goods.
